Chemical Peels

Through sun exposure, harmful toxins and the natural aging process, your face can lose its youthful glow. These factors dull your skin and contribute to the rise of wrinkles, sagging, discoloration, acne and other concerns that take a toll on your confidence and your outlook on life. On your worst skin days, it may feel as though these imperfections are here to stay — but a smooth and spotless complexion is waiting just below the surface.

Chemical peels are a popular treatment option with numerous benefits for the health and appearance of the skin. With formulations for all skin types, our chemical peels help patients improve their most challenging skin issues and unearth a youthful layer of skin that’ll become their defining feature. What Is a Chemical Peel?

A chemical peel is a rejuvenating skin treatment that stimulates your skin’s natural ability to regenerate itself, resulting in an improvement in skin tone, texture, breakouts, fine lines and wrinkles. The treatment causes the dry and dead cells of the outermost layer of the skin to peel, flake off and shed, revealing the healthier skin underneath. Several factors can affect the amount of peeling a patient experiences, including their skin type and resilience level, the type of peel used and the number of layers applied. Even if you don’t physically peel, your skin is still exfoliating. Just one treatment will reveal a healthy and glowing complexion.

At Aesthetic Envy, we provide chemical peels by PCA Skin, which are performed by a PCA-certified esthetician.

How Do PCA Skin Chemical Peels Differ From Other Chemical Peels?

PCA Skin was the first company to develop a modified Jessner’s peel, a popular medium-depth chemical peel containing resorcinol, salicylic acid and lactic acid. PCA Skin’s reformulation is enhanced with kojic acid and citric acid and offers a safer, more comfortable treatment with even greater benefits. Since its founding in 1990, PCA Skin has expanded its line of blended chemical peels to include options for all skin types, ethnicities and concerns. These superficial peels deliver hydrated, refreshed and perfected skin without discomfort or downtime, and are ideal for patients who have never had a chemical peel. Our esthetician will identify what solution is safe for your skin and will produce the greatest benefits.

What Are the Benefits of Regular Superficial Chemical Peels?

Because PCA Skin’s professional peels are so versatile, they have the potential to improve a range of skin concerns as well as provide overall rejuvenation. A chemical peel at Aesthetic Envy can:

  • Minimize the appearance of age spots
  • Lighten sun damage and freckles
  • Soften fine lines and wrinkles
  • Diminish mild to moderate acne scarring
  • Improve skin texture and tone
  • Reduce some types of acne breakouts

Am I a Good Candidate for a Chemical Peel?

PCA Skin chemical peels are an optimal option for patients seeking to clear pores, treat active acne, smooth the skin, reduce pigmentation, erase signs of aging and give the complexion a youthful glow. Even patients with sensitive skin can safely undergo a gentle PCA Skin peel. Women and men seeking to address mild to moderate complexion concerns typically see the greatest benefit from chemical peels. For patients with more advanced concerns, such as those seeking to treat deep acne scars or severe sun damage, a PCA Skin chemical peel may not be a suitable option.

What Happens During a Chemical Peel Treatment?

Once you meet with our PCA-certified esthetician and discuss your concerns, they will select the best products to address your issues. We offer the following chemical peels at Aesthetic Envy:

PCA Peel With Hydroquinone: This formula is the most similar to the original Jessner’s chemical peel. The PCA Peel With Hydroquinone helps promote an even skin tone and a clearer complexion. Our esthetician may recommend this treatment for patients with dull or uneven skin, melasma, sun spots, age spots or active acne.

Sensi Peel: The Sensi Peel is formulated with 6 percent trichloroacetic acid (TCA), as well as lactic acid, azelaic acid, kojic acid and arbutin. This gentle formula is ideal for patients with highly sensitive skin and darker skin tones. Our esthetician may recommend the Sensi Peel to treat fine lines, dullness, poor skin texture, dehydration or redness.

Ultra Peel: The Ultra Peel is specifically formulated to improve the appearance of maturing skin. Key ingredients include TCA, lactic acid, azelaic acid, kojic acid and L-ascorbic acid; (vitamin C). The Ultra Peel is ideal for skin strengthening, brightening, plumping, hydration and minimizing signs of aging.

During the treatment, your face will first be cleansed of all impurities, makeup, oil and dirt. The selected solution will then be applied to your skin and left on to take effect. It is normal to experience a tingling, burning or stinging sensation that will subside after a few minutes. Your esthetician may apply several layers to achieve the optimal strength and depth of penetration for your goals. A peel typically takes around 30 minutes.

Is There Downtime After a Chemical Peel?

Our peels are superficial chemical peels that do not require downtime. You may continue with your skincare routine, cleansing and moisturizing as usual. Protect your skin from the sun and excess heat and apply SPF daily. You may or may not experience redness, peeling or flaking after the treatment. Either way, improvements are occurring at a cellular level. PCA Skin peels are formulated to preserve and promote healthy skin, regardless of whether you see visible exfoliation following treatment. This approach allows you to get back to your busy life with minimal downtime, while still seeing beautiful results.

What Results Can I Expect With a Chemical Peel?

PCA Skin’s chemical peels are designed to be a progressive and comfortable alternative to more aggressive peeling formulas. The carefully selected blends of ingredients work to break down buildup on the skin surface while delivering targeted ingredients that nourish, strengthen and protect the skin. After one treatment, you will notice a healthy and youthful glow. With regular chemical peels, you will see a reduction in hyperpigmentation, fine lines, acne blemishes and scarring. Regular superficial peels also enhance the penetration and efficacy of the skincare products you use at home.
